Qualitative responses

Participant impressions of Google's "About this result" panel

“For sites that I was already aware of, their about pages seemed more trustworthy because of the source description. Whereas, web pages I was not aware of had less of a source description. Even though it states when Google i ndexed the site, I don't know what that means so it wasn't too helpful to me.”

“It seemed to provide more information about well-established websites compared to more unknown ones.”

“The Google introduction makes it easier to learn about these websites quickly, and I like the "related" search terms area because it tells more about the direction the article goes in. It's useful, but nothing that's so useful, I would use it every time I wanted to learn about a new website.”

Participant impressions of "More about this page" feature

“It offers both concise and accurate information about the website. It is also structured to help you find more content from the website, which would be useful if you like the style/nature of the website.”

“it's mainly the same info from the three dot blurb, or just info from the website's about section or part of a wikipedia entry, but if it's not wellknown or if there's not much by the site there's nothing on the more about the page section also it offeres related pages, but those can just be found on google with the search terms

Not a lot of additional info was given for any website that was not one of the major ones (like WikiHow). It does give a blurb in their own words which could be helpful, but other than that there is not much new information available. Realistically, I don't think it would be worth the trouble if I was trying to research a quick question”
